Whoa! Angelique! Lots and lots of cool drawing happening here! Check out the difference of the first crab you drew (upper left corner of left page) compared to the one in the lower right corner on the right page. The proportions (sizes of shapes compared to other shapes) of the crab got more accurate as you continued to draw. You did a great job of drawing the proportions and details of the puffer fish, compared to the reference picture you were looking at. You got the hang of drawing with your pencil on its side and pulled off an excellent sketch of the toucan!

Excellent!! Start!! Eric!! Your line work is awesome--lots of control! You did a great job of drawing BIG on the paper while keeping VERY accurate proportions (sizes of shapes compared to other shapes) of the crab and puffer fish. Compared to the reference picture you were looking at, you did an excellent job with accurate proportions of the crab's claws, body, distance between the eyes. Keep practicing making lots of loose, accurate sketches of things (quick studies) before finishing with darker outlines.

Wonderful, wonderful sketches, Bethany!!! Your practice of holding the pencil on its side paid off! You started drawing long, smooth lines and shapes. And the proportions (sizes of shapes compared to other shapes) of the crab and puffer fish got more accurate with each new sketch. Notice how the proportions of the eyes, body, and claws improved (compared to the reference picture you were looking at) in the sketch of the crab on the right--excellent job! Several nice sketches of the fish also got you some accurate proportions. And then, towards the end of class, you pulled your skills together for an AWESOME drawing of the toucan! You worked while holding your pencil on its side, sketched light guidelines for accurate proportions, added all the details, and completed it by adding gray tones. Keep it going!

EXCELLENT!! Enrique!! It took several sketches for you to get used to holding the pencil on its side, but then you got the hang of it and started drawing accurate lines and shapes! What is so cool is how you continued to make lots of sketches, looking for accurate proportions (sizes of shapes compared to other shapes). And you drew BIG on the paper, too. You REALLY improved with your drawing of the puffer fish! You drew very accurate proportions of the fish, compared to the reference picture you were looking at. I really like how you used tapered lines to show the pointy spines of the fish. Nice job on the gray tones and facial expressions. EXCELLENT start on sketching accurate shapes of the toucan.

Fantastic drawing, Chris!!!! Working with your pencil on its side was a bit of a challenge for you, but I can see BIG improvement from the first crab on the left to the puffer fish sketches!! You gained more confidence in your line work with each sketch. And your accuracy of proportions (sizes of shapes compared to other shapes) improved too. You gained control of your lines and shapes for an excellent sketch of the puffer fish. I really like how you added the gray tones to the fish. Cool facial expressions. :-) Keep practicing sketching light guidelines; then finishing with darker outlines.

Draw Tonatiuh's Face
Take time to look for the dark outlines of the shapes. Start by drawing light guidelines for the shapes, and then draw darker outlines to finish. If you have time, lightly draw the different gray tones. Draw large on your paper while looking for accurate proportions.
